Reed Bus

Rules

When you purchase a pass, you acknowledge you have read these rules and your rider will follow them. We do not issue refunds for passes revoked for behavior-related issues.

Bus passes

  • Seats are limited and sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Riders are assigned to one route and one stop. Passes are not transferable.
  • If a child needs to ride more than one route (e.g., due to living between parents' homes or for afterschool activities), a separate pass must be purchased for each route.
  • Children are not permitted to bring friends who are not annual passholders on the same line onto the bus.

Waiting for the bus

  • Riders must be at their stop no less than five minutes ahead of the scheduled arrival time. Buses can leave up to five minutes early, depending on traffic and other considerations.
  • Reed Elementary riders must be accompanied by their parents at the stop. Parents must remain responsible for their rider until they are safely boarded on the bus.
  • Riders should remain at the bus stop, on the sidewalk or waiting area, and never in the road.

Boarding the bus

  • Show the bus driver your bus pass.
  • Sit in your seat promptly and keep the aisle clear.

Riding the bus

  • Follow all driver instructions.
  • Buckle your seat belt and remain seated at all times.
  • No eating, drinking, littering, or bringing prohibited items onto the bus.
  • No yelling, profanity, harassment, or disrespect toward the driver or other students.
  • No vandalism of the bus, bus stop, or surrounding property. Parents are financially responsible for any damages caused by their child.

Disembarking the bus

  • Wait until the bus has stopped.
  • Once off the bus, do not run in front of the bus or between buses.
  • Reed Elementary students must be met by an adult guardian. If they are not, the child will be returned to Del Mar Middle School for pick up by a parent or guardian. Failure to meet a child may result in suspension or expulsion of bus privileges.

Disciplinary action

  • Drivers will issue verbal warnings for minor behavior violations, with documentation shared with the program manager.
  • Repeated or serious violations (e.g., safety threats or disrespect toward the driver) may result in suspension or revocation of bus privileges without a refund.
  • Schools will be notified of any behavioral issues on the bus for resolution.
