Annual pass price

For the 2025-26 school year, a one-way annual pass costs $360. You can purchase a morning pass, an afternoon pass, or both. Thanks to the financial support of our county and local agencies, pass prices are more than 50% subsidized with tax dollars.

Pass price history

We work hard to keep pass prices as low as possible, regularly maintaining steady rates from year to year.

Frequently asked questions

No. Single-use or weekly passes are not available due to limited capacity.

At its sole discretion, the JPA may reduce the price of passes as the year elapses, but there is no ongoing formulaic pro-rating. Availability of these passes is based on unsold seats and is not guaranteed.

The cost is $345 for a one-way pass (morning or afternoon), less than $2 per trip.

No, not without buying a second pass. All students are assigned to one route and one stop. If a child needs to ride more than one route, for example if they live between parents’ homes, please purchase a pass for each route they need to ride.

Passes for each residence must be purchased if the routes for each home are different.

Our program offers five buses running a total of 18 routes throughout the day back to back. The cost to add another bus is prohibitive, and securing another bus and driver during a nationwide shortage is highly unlikely.

Passes typically go on sale beginning in May and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Passes can be purchased online using a Visa, Master Card, American Express, or Discover credit card. If you have questions, please contact info@buschallenge.org.

Passes purchased before July 15th will be mailed on or around August 1 to the mailing address indicated at checkout. Passes purchased after this date will be mailed out within two weeks of purchase.

There are no refunds unless service is suspended for a reason beyond our control. Students whose passes have been revoked for failing to comply with bus ridership rules are ineligible for refunds.

The only exception is if a child leaves RUSD. In that instance, the refund will be pro-rated based on the time remaining on the pass.
