About
Our story
The Tiburon Peninsula Traffic Alliance (officially the Tiburon Peninsula Traffic Relief JPA) is a Joint Powers Authority between the Town of Tiburon, the City of Belvedere, and the Reed Union School District. We were established in 2016 as an official government agency to implement policies and programs to reduce congestion on Tiburon Boulevard.
Our flagship RUSD program
With school bus transportation no longer guaranteed by the State of California, the yellow bus has become a critical component of our traffic relief efforts. Since our founding, the TPTA has provided reliable yellow bus service to students attending Reed Elementary, Bel Aire Elementary, and Del Mar Middle School, significantly reducing vehicle traffic during peak hours.
What’s new for 2025–26
We’re excited to introduce two new pilot initiatives for the 2025–26 school year:
-
St. Hilary School Express: A dedicated bus serving St. Hilary School, connecting families directly to campus from the Highway 101 corridor and helping them avoid contributing to congestion on Tiburon Boulevard.
-
Late Bus: A new afternoon bus for students participating in extracurricular activities, helping parents avoid making separate afternoon pick-up trips and further easing traffic during the already congested late afternoon period.
Thanks to local and county agencies’ funding, our bus passes remain significantly discounted for all families.
The JPA oversees all aspects of our bus programs—from route planning to daily operations—in collaboration with a General Manager. We proudly partner with First Student for bus services and experienced drivers.
